HGV driver jailed for causing death of two minibus passengers – London

A driver of a heavy goods vehicle, which collided with a mini bus, killing two of its occupants and seriously injuring a third, has today been sentenced at Stafford Crown Court to 12 months’ imprisonment and disqualified from driving for two-and-a-half years after he pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to two counts of causing death by careless driving. —

Leslie Paul sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment for sexual offences at children’s home – West Midlands

Leslie Paul, 64, was sentenced today at Blackfriars Crown Court to a total of 13 years imprisonment for a number of sexual offences committed between 1979 and 1988. These offences were committed while Paul worked as a carer at South Vale Children’s Home in Lambeth. The victims were aged 10 to 13 years old at the time of the abuse. —

Hatton Garden defendants convicted of the biggest burglary in English legal history – Thames Chiltern

Three men were convicted today for offences relating to the burglary of a vault at Hatton Garden, in the heart of London’s jewellery district. Four other men had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle. The burglary took place over the Easter weekend, 2nd to 5th April 2015, and an estimated £14 million worth of jewellery, gold and cash was stolen. —
